Production Assistant

Gridley’s Creative Bath & Body is a vegan bath and body manufacturer and retail store in downtown Lindsay. Almost all of what you’ll find on our shelves is made right here by us—and we’re pretty particular about making it well.

We’re looking for a Production Assistant who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in their work, and has an exceptional eye for detail.

You don’t need to know how to make soap—we can teach you! What’s much more important to us is that you’re reliable, precise, organized and willing to learn.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting with the production of handcrafted soap, bath and body products
• Accurately weighing and measuring ingredients
• Following formulas and production procedures precisely
• Preparing molds, ingredients, equipment and workstations
• Cutting, finishing, packaging and labelling products
• Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and production areas
• Completing accurate production and batch records
• Assisting with raw material, packaging and finished-product inventory
• Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and workplace safety procedures
• Occasionally assisting customers in our retail store when needed
• Helping with other production-related tasks as required

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

• Have excellent attention to detail and good manual dexterity
• Are dependable, punctual and organized
• Enjoy detailed, hands-on work
• Can maintain accuracy and consistency while completing repetitive tasks
• Are comfortable following detailed written instructions and formulas
• Understand that a few grams can matter!
• Can work efficiently and independently once trained
• Take pride in keeping your workspace clean and organized
• Are comfortable being trained to safely work with caustic solutions, fragrances and other cosmetic ingredients
• Are willing and able to follow GMPs, SOPs and safety procedures consistently
• Can comfortably pause a production task to assist a customer and return to your work without losing track of details
• Are physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to approximately 50 lbs
• Have a positive attitude and are genuinely interested in learning

Experience making cold-process soap or bath and body products is an asset, but it is not required. Experience in food production, baking, cosmetics, manufacturing, laboratory work, crafting or another precision-based environment would also be valuable.

A Little About the Job

This is primarily a production position, but we’re a small business and everyone pitches in when needed.

Our production and retail operations currently happen under one roof, so there may be times when production is interrupted to greet or assist a customer before returning to the task at hand. The ability to stay organized and maintain accuracy despite occasional interruptions is important.

Position Details

Schedule: Approximately 3–5 daytime shifts per week, with hours based on production needs and availability. There may be opportunities for additional hours as the business grows.  There may also be occasional evening/weekend work involved.

Location: Gridley’s Creative Bath & Body, 73 Kent St. W, Lindsay, Ontario.

Wage: Starting at Ontario minimum wage, with opportunities for increased responsibility and wage growth based on performance and experience.
