Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes
In a world that’s adjusting in ways we’ve never seen before, I decided to throw one more change at you. It’s worth it, trust me.
I’m super excited to announce the launch of the newly designed and improved Gridley’s website.
If you’re a returning customer and browsing the site, you may have found yourself wondering if you were in the right place, looking for clues that this was "the" Gridley's. You might have double checked the web address. Perhaps searched the product images.
Either way, at some point, you realized you were in the right place and you had a reaction to the change. It was either positive (fingers crossed!) or the uncertainty created tension in your brain.
Kind of like when Facebook overhauled its classic layout last year—and there was no way to opt out. Nobody liked it. But it’s how we responded that was important.
It reminds me of when a cherished tree, let’s call it “Sprucey”, had to be removed from my yard a while back. Sprucey was loose and leaning.
But it served a significant purpose. It provided valued privacy to the pool area (I could skinny dip without being seen by the neighbours). And it was part of a row of trees that hugged our property and created our little backyard paradise.
I searched for every possible solution to save that spruce. I Googled every relevant search term I could think of. I called a local tree company to take a look at it. In the end, it became clear to me that Sprucey had to go.
Having said that, I delayed and delayed the removal. Nope, this weekend isn’t good. Next weekend doesn’t work for me either. Eventually, I knew I couldn’t keep my husband at bay any longer (we decided he would cut the tree down himself).
Before he went all Paul Bunyan on my spruce, I spent several hours that morning outside, staring at it, taking in all of its tilting glory. I took pictures of it from every conceivable angle.
And, while I’m not sure whether another tree will ever fill the hole that Sprucey left in my heart, I have ultimately come to accept the change. I now even see the upside to it—there’s more sun on the pool and a better view of the sunsets!
So, it’s my hope that what I’ve envisioned and created with this new site is that you’ll also come to see the benefits.
Because this might be a whole new look, but I’m still offering the same awesome bath, body and home products and stellar customer service. AND It’s a better online experience for you. Improved functionality, better checkout process, an easier way to find the products you love, and info about future classes and workshops.
And… this new website is also completely safe. Our website developer/IT gal literally never leaves her house so you can rest easy knowing our online storefront is as germ-free as possible.
But seriously, I’m following guidelines outlined by officials and doing everything possible to get your orders out in a safe and timely manner.
I think about all of you who have visited my booth in past years. I hope you’re faring well during these times and that we meet again soon. Different, but still the same.
Thank you for being a part of my ongoing journey and for allowing me and my products to be a part of yours.
Michele,
Founder, Gridley’s
